Inaugural ARHA World Show

Inaugural ARHA World Show Boasts 1,100 Entries

More than 300 of the country’s best ranch horses could be found in Bowling Green, Kentucky, June 24-26, competing for World Champion titles and $15,000 in prizes and prize money. The number of entries at the inaugural American Ranch Horse Association (ARHA) World Show topped 1,100 in 83 conformation, performance, and cattle classes. Competitors came from around country to ride under ARHA judges Robert Franklin, Dan Muse, Marvin Butler, and Kevin Hatfield at the double-judged show.

“Our first World Show went better than we could have ever expected,” says Michael Flynn, ARHA president. “As with any new organization’s first attempt at a major event, we were prepared for some challenges, but the higher-than-expected entries and the friendly nature of the competitors produced a great show environment for everyone.”

Major titles awarded include:
High Point Open Champion and High Point Versatility Horse, awarded to Haidas Little Tiger, owned and exhibited by Mary Winninger of Scottsville, Kentucky
High Point Youth Champion, awarded to One Blue Wheeler, owned and exhibited by Alex Wieland of Cedar Hill, Tennessee
High Point Amateur Champion, awarded to Docs Chilli Breeze, owned and exhibited by Delza Noble of Mountain City, Tennessee
Youth Versatility Horse, awarded to Royal Silver Oak, owned and exhibited by Jenna Jones of Rockfield, Kentucky
Versatility Amateur Horse, awarded to Double Barrel Sonny, owned and exhibited by Kathleen Weller of Bokchito, Oklahoma

The 2005 ARHA World Show was supported by Official ARHA World Show Sponsors—Equestrian World and The Boot Store; other World Show sponsors—Southern States, Creekside Ranch, RSI of Nashville, and Cross Creek Designs; and High Point Saddle Sponsors—Joe Fecke, J & R Enterprises, and Demonbreun Roofing. Additional prize money was provided by Dry Branch Construction for Ranch Riding and by Wilson Building Supply and Daryl Robertson for Team Roping. World Champion winners were awarded Gist Silversmiths buckles provided by a host of individual supporters, ARHA members, ARHA Charter organizations, and businesses. Patron sponsors, class sponsors, and vendors at the highly popular trade fair also helped to support the competition.

Because of the inaugural show’s success, the organization is expanding the Second Annual ARHA World Show to a five-day format, June 20-24, 2006, at the L.D. Brown Agricultural Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Formed in 2004, the American Ranch Horse Association’s mission is to promote the abilities of the all-around versatile working horse in a positive atmosphere where western tradition is genuinely honored. Quickly expanding with more than 1,300 members, ARHA hosts competitions, clinics, and educational events for registered stock-type breeds throughout the year.
